Let’s face it.. All of us have said it at one time or the other  “CHALTA HAI“…

We stuff a 6-seater with 15 people.. We dig up newly constructed roads 3 days after completion…Bridges collapse killing hundreds…Brahmins burn Dalit villages… a whistleblower against the government is murdered by government goons itself………and we don’t even bat an eyelid  “Sab Chalta hai” in this country..

WE, the Indian people probably have the strongest immune system in the world … immune not to diseases(those we have plenty of ) , but to any and all things that do not put us in extreme discomfort…

Millions of tons of foodgrains rot in FCI godowns, while half of the population starves to death… who cares!!!… The few well-to-do Indian classes are too engrossed in their own miserable existences to pay any heed …

Who among us even think of helping people in dire need at accident scenes… let them bleed to death, “Sab Chalta Hai“…

“Sab Chalta Hai’ for us and we want to become a superpower….Economists predict that India and China will be the next superpowers by 2045… I don’t know about us, but China is probably a superpower already in many regards.. while we struggle to provide even the bare neccesities to our infinite ever-growing population.

Can you believe this… “There are more poor people in eight states of India than in the 26 countries of sub-Saharan Africa“… OMG!! Sub-saharan africa… isnt that like the poorest place in the world.. DUH!!! wrong……

Bihar , UP and MP are the poorest places in the WORLD!!!! And we think we’ll become a superpower….

Now I’m not saying it is isn’t possible, but until we get rid of this “Sab Chalta Hai” state of mind…. God only knows what’s gonna happen to this “great” country of ours……… Sab Chalta Hi Reh Jayega…..

The upcoming Commonwealth Games in Delhi … Yes, the most talked about topic for everybody from housewives to CEO’s, doodhwalas to Politicians, Students to Bollywood stars..

Here’s my two cents (or should i say two paisa) on it…

All Indians and others decidedly have an opinion on what is fast becoming “The Commonwealth Shame“..

Corruption as even a kindergärtner nowadays knows is nothing new to our great country… be it the famous Fodder Scam (ala Laloo) or the never dying Bofor’s Scam.. let’s face it, corruption is an integral part of our society…

So what makes the Commonwealth Games Scam different from the rest. Well the simple answer is, while the other scams were all of a national/regional nature which the international media didn’t give two hoots for, this unfortunately has the makings of a Global Case Study in corruption…..

But let’s face it, we may chastise our politicians for this huge failure, but somewhere in our hearts, we all want these Games to be a success..

We are worried about tarnishing our “reputation” on the global stage.. This sort of mentality is of course typical of us Indians.. We are so worried about what others think of us that we are more than willing to bend over backwards and let them walk over us with their opinions..

Parents are worried what their social circle will think if their kid doesn’t do well in school, or get into IIT/IIM , never mind the problems and conditions faced by them… Like in the movie “3 Idiots” where Farhan’s ( Madhavan) father asks him what Mr Kapoor (or somebody of that sort) will think if he were to drop out of college and pursue his passion..

The same attitude applies is at work here… We are worried what the World and the West in particular will think of this fiasco…

Well, I think we shouldn’t give a damn about these Games… We have to realize that the Games are not our collective failure, but that of a handful of  lousy thieves at the top who will be exposed for what they really are, if the Games were to fail..

..

If the Games are somehow successful with the participation of the Indian people ,Kalmadi & Co will be the first to take full credit for what a good job they have done.. All pre-Games allegations will be forgotten and the Indian people will go back to their dormant ever-suffering selves struggling through the drudgeries of everyday life..

I say we take this as an opportunity to shame our politicians for what they really are… a bunch of thieves who will rob us blind and give us a certificate for it.

Let us not be misled by a fake sense of honour and take this opportunity to hold guilty those responsible for this mess….
